A Hudson Valley man already serving time for murder has been sentenced to 33 years to life in prison for killing his neighbor and hiding the body along a Sullivan County trail.
Jonte Wunner, 27, of Monticello, received the stacked sentence Monday, Nov. 24, after a Sullivan County jury found he beat and shot 42-year-old Jose Rodriguez inside a Lakewood Avenue on Oct. 4, 2024.
After the killing, Wunner wrapped Rodriguez’s body in a tarp, transported it away from the home, and dumped it on the nearby Woodridge rail trail in an attempt to hide the crime, prosecutors said.
